Mrs. High Lonesome

The minute this pattern came out I knew I had to knit coordinating sweaters for Mr. Wanderlust Knitter and I. At first he wasn’t on board with my plan. After some convincing he was game. This was the first sweater I knit for him.  I’ve asked him countless times in the past if I could knit him one but he always said for me “not to waste my time”. This time I didn’t really give him a choice and I’m so glad I didn’t, because he loves it! He describes it as “so comfortable”. Success!

I omitted the short rows at the neck for both sizes.  I added short rows to my husband’s sweater after I finished the yoke before splitting for the sleeves.  I did this by placing markers where I would for the front/back/sleeves and then knit the short rows only on the back portion. I knit to 3 stitches before the sleeve GRs, turned work and purled to 3 stitches before the other sleeve GRs, turn your work. I kept the 3 stitch spacing in-between and worked short rows so that 1.5″ was added to the back. I then hung the yoke on my lk150 knitting machine and knit the body and sleeves in pieces on the machine. Ribbing was done by hand and then the sweater was seamed together.

Machine settings to match my handknit yoke:

Tension set to 7

Carriage set to 4mm
